KCC 56 is...

A group of 5th-6th grade students dedicated to gathering family, serving community, and sending one another. Alright, so we just took the church's vision statement and applied it to KCC 56. But it's true! It's what we're all about; we just address it in unique, exciting ways. The students might call it a vibe; we call it KCC 56. It's not quite kids ministry. It's not quite youth ministry. It's a ministry designed to come into the gap and make 56 students feel at home.

KCC 56 Sundays

Hang

Class officially starts at 9:00a on Sundays, but we often don’t get rolling until about 9:05a to allow some time to hang out. Feel free to come early and have a good time. Our 56 space belongs to our 56 students!

Get Active

Before getting too in depth, we like to do an activity together. From making an escape room to playing real life Fruit Ninja to playing Guitar Hero to making lava lamps, we like to have a good time introducing a Bible story!

Dive in

Our 56 students are more than capable of in-depth text study. That’s why we are currently on a two-year teaching cycle about Elijah and Elisha for one year and Mark’s Second Exodus the next. It’s advanced and impactful!

Current Study

Our world is consumed with wealth. Whether we talk about money or assets that are worth money, we (as in, “our culture”) finds value in people based on the money and possessions they have. This is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught. Ever hear the term “less is more”? Well, they may sound like a scary idea when it comes to our finances, but it is exactly what Jesus taught. He instructs us to sell our possessions and give to the poor. He instructs us to store up treasures in heaven. He encourages us by saying where are treasure is, there our hearts will be also. So how can we swim upstream and fight the cultural normalities that place such a high emphasis on money? WEll, we need to shift exactly what we are consumed with. We need to be consumed with the Kingdom of heaven and not dolla dolla bills, y’all. Whether it be a story of a rich young man whom Jesus invited to sell his possessions to follow him, or a rich fool who built bigger barns to store things he can’t take with him when he dies, or a man named abraham who left everything he ever knew because he was consumed with following God and trusted in him beyond money and comfort, or a married couple who agreed to give everything to God and then concealed some of their money from the rest of the church, we see time after time in the Bible of people who had a choice to lay up treasures in heaven or lay up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and an theives break in and steal. Letting go of our obsession of money is hard. it’s even scary! But when we are consumed with God, our lives will be better.
