Why We’re Going
“The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.” — Mark 10:45
We go because that’s what Jesus modeled — and we want to follow Him. As a church body, Serving Community is one of our core values at Kerrville Church of Christ. We believe we are called to step toward people with the love of Christ — especially those experiencing hardship. This trip is one way we live that out.
And this isn’t just about checking off a box.
This is transformational work — not just for those we serve, but for our students. It’s a chance to experience what Ephesians 2:10 reminds us of:
“We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”
When a student chooses to go on this trip, they’re stepping into something bigger than themselves. They’re learning what it means to look beyond their own needs and live like Jesus — with hands ready to serve, eyes ready to see, and hearts ready to love.
I’ve been on this trip myself, and I can tell you — the joy it brought me was unforgettable. If your student has never been on a retreat or mission trip before, this is the one I’d choose.
